For high school students, at about a 10th grade level, earning one Language Arts or English credit.

Language Lessons for a Living Education Level 10 Course Description
Language Lessons for a Living Education Level 10 will equip your high school students to be excellent communicators for Christ. This homeschool curriculum, a part of Master Books’ top-ranked language arts series, purposefully prepares students to share their faith in a way that impacts their own generation and beyond.
Strong communication skills will serve students for a lifetime; a biblical approach to communication is the foundation of this course. Students will be well prepared for successful high school communication through studying etiquette, verbal and nonverbal communication, and worldview & literary analysis.
Students will focus on the essentials of written communication as they master and apply their skills to grammar, spelling, reading comprehension, and vocabulary expansion. Consistent writing of clear and effective essays develops independent reading and writing proficiency. In practicing these skills, students will start incorporating more creative challenges, such as critical thinking, worldview analysis, and descriptive writing.
Students will also study types of essays, literary devices, picture observation, and much more. The teacher aids section will equip students to meet any writing challenge.
The scope and sequence, daily schedule, and other teacher aids truly make this an open-and-go course. Additional writing activities in the back of the book allow the teacher to customize this course to meet the student's precise needs.
Activities include essay writing, Scripture study, active listening, interviewing, and critical thinking exercises to hone and apply their writing and reading skills creatively. Scope and sequence, daily course calendar, writing outline and templates, recommended reading list, additional writing prompts, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and communication study sheets, and rubrics are also included!
Course Objectives:

A helpful and detailed daily schedule:
DAY 1: Special features focus on reading comprehension, spelling, and vocabulary through the study of select book passages, picture studies, poems, or Scripture passages
DAY 2 & 3: Learn to apply grammar rules effectively and strengthen writing skills
DAY 4: Enjoy using literary devices. Critical thinking is encouraged
DAY 5: Improve spelling, expand vocabulary usage, and master writing skills

The Independent Reading list in the back of the book is an excellent way to assign books from the family library for additional practice and to foster a love of reading. A list of suggested Master Books titles can also be found at the back of the course.
Is my student ready to start Language Lessons for a Living Education Level 10?
Independent reading and writing proficiency are developed by consistently writing clear, effective sentences within dynamic paragraphs. In practicing these skills, students will start incorporating more creative challenges, such as figures of speech and descriptive writing. Students will also review and integrate the eight parts of speech, tricky words and verbs, parts of a story, poems, Bible genres, map studies, picture observation, and much more.
Begin at this level if the student:
Has completed Language Lessons for a Living Education Level 9 or another equivalent course
Reads independently and can retell a story without prompts
Recognizes many spelling patterns and rules and is ready to apply them to new words
Understands sentence structure and can write a complex sentence
Understands paragraph structure and is ready to write from different perspectives and explore creative and narrative writing.
If the student is not ready to begin this level, we recommend starting with Language Lessons for a Living Education Level 9.
